- My Local Area Network (LAN) -
2007.07.28 Updated my LAN with a Netgear SC101 SAN Storage Central, at the moment i'm using two 250Gb Hard-drives inside the device. Also moved one of my UPS devices down to the LAN stack to protect my firewall and ADSL equipment.

LAN-Stack with new SAN and UPS unit

2007.03.01 Installed a WLAN Access point from 3com. I modified the unit with 8dbi external omni directional antennas to extend range and inprove reliability. The unit is a 3com model WL-525 using the standard 802.11g. With the external antennas replaced is't now possible to access the AP from a distance up to 200meters.

My LAN installation
When i moved to this house one of my first installations was a LAN (Local Area network). I know from earlier experience that LAN cables and LAN equipment is one of the most usual sources of radio interferance. I am also a licensed radio amateur, therefore noice in the radio-spectrum is NOT desired!

Earlier i have tried to use LAN equipment from D-Link and Netgear, this time i wont make that miss take again.

- Internet connection -
At the moment i use one 1/8 (up/down) ADSL connection from the ISP 'Bredbandsbolaget'

Bredbandsbolaget -- www.bredband.net

I am also using a 'fallback' connection via Radio-Link. The link is primary used for 24/7 function monitoring of our community WAN (Work).

For this connection i am using old lucent 11 mbps (IEEE 802.11b) equipment. I am also using 'SecondHand' 62cm parabolic antennas from 'VHF Teknik'. The total link span is about 9500 meter. (9.5km)
